Let's celebrate the Autumn Moon Festival together at the Riverbend Farm (10 miles east of I-485 on Albemarle Road, Hwy 24/27). We have the Gazebo at the playground from 4:00-8:00 pm. Bring your own picnic. You can bring something to cook on the gas grills if you like. We'll enjoy the huge playground, the petting/feeding barn, a tractor-drawn wagon ride, and s'mores around a bonfire. Bring marshmallow sticks if you have them, but we'll have some too.
The regular entrance fee is $5/person, but you will only pay $2/person at the gate... just tell them you are with FCC and give them your last name and number of guests. (FCC will cover the rest of the fee).

This year the wagon ride will leave at 5PM be there by 4:45pm and will include a small pumpkin !!

A fun, supportive, creative, and confidential group retreat for girls ages 9-13.

Explore ideas and feelings about race, identity, self-esteem, and peer pressure through art and play.

Where: Cherokee Outdoor YMCA, 201 East Bells Ferry Road, Woodstock, GA 30189

When: Friday, November 11, 2011 -Sunday, November 13, 2011 (Arrive at 7:30pm Friday Evening
and Adjourn at 2pm, Sunday Afternoon)

Registration Information

Cost: $295. per child

Includes licensed therapist group sessions; fun activities including scavenger hike, PJ party with
movie, snacks, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner; lodging for Friday and Saturday evenings, camp
fire. Girls need to bring sleeping bags, towels, and a pillow. Adults will be on site all weekend as
chaperones.

Space is limited and registration is first-come first-served bases .

Ray's Splash planet is right off highway 77 in Charlotte.

We Will enjoy the water from 2pm till 4pm.

FCC Summer Picnic on Sun Aug.14 - McDowell Park

WHAT: Chinese American Association of Charlotteand Families with Children from China Charlotte are combining with each other’sgroup for a summer picnic on Sunday August 14 at McDowell Park.

WHERE: McDowellNature Center and Preserve 15222York Rd Charlotte, NC 28278

Pavilionshelter, it's next to McDowell Nature Center which has a sign on the right.After passing the nature center, there are 2 parking lots on the left side.Please encourage your members to park on the second one.

WHEN: The initial time frame is3:00PM-8:00PM.

It may start alittle later if it's too hot, and people can stay late for the sunset of LakeWilie.

There's no need to bring food.Like last year, we can order Chinese dishes from a restaurant, while we havebarbecue grills, hot dogs and water melon. There will be plenty of food

Saturday, 4/30/11, we are having a social outing with Southern Piedmont Adoptive Families of America (SPAFA) at the Lazy 5 Ranch, Mooresville, NC (www.lazy5ranch.com)
* 11:30 a.m. (Please arrive at 11:00 - 30 minutes before our wagon(s) depart).
* Group rate $7.50/person for adults and children (below age 1 is free) includes the wagon ride
* Pay at gate. Tell them you are with SPAFA/FCC. CASH ONLY!
* You can also drive through in your own car at $5.00/person (group rate, no wagon ride).
* NO Pets allowed.

FCC Family Fun Night May 21st 2011

Join us on Saturday, May21st from 5-8pm

at ISC for our FCC Family Fun Night!

5pm-6pm- Pizza Party (donations towards the cost of pizza are welcome)

6pm-8pm- Games and fun for the kids, mix and mingle for the adults

ISC will provide a fun place for the kids to run around and play

together, while parents can get to know one another in an informal setting. Parents- feel free to bring along board games or cards and challenge your fellow FCC parents to a little friendly competition- all in the spirit of fun!

Cost: $5.00 per child for instructor and donation for pizza

This is a great way to get to know other FCC families in a relaxed setting!

FCC Playdate July 25th at Village Park

Join us for some fun in the sun! Saturday, July 25th at Village Park in Kannapolis.

We will gather around 3:00 pm. No need to RSVP

The Village Park features a Splash Pad with sprinklers and fountains
The daily admission rate for the Splash Pad is $1.00 per person.
Parents accompanying children but not playing will be admitted free of charge.

The Rotary Train takes riders on a fun trip around the park

Evening with an Idol

Catryna and I love watching American Idol together and we were both fans of the runner up, Bo Bice, from a couple of seasons ago. He lost to Carrie Underwood. We were so excited when we heard he was coming to Charlotte! Okay, mommy was like a kid and couldn’t stop grinning and screaming at the concert.

Well, Catryna brought him a Panda Bear and a note that said “Bo, here is my #. I love you. Catryna”. I explained to her that we probably would not get a chance to meet him and that he was a famous celebrity and that happens. She would hear none of that. “Why not mommy. I want him to come him to call us and come over for dinner”. How do you explain this to a child.

Well, I guess Catryna proved me wrong because Bo did a meet and greet after the concert. When we got there at 7 p.m., all I heard was “When’s Bo coming? When’s Bo coming?”. The opening band went on an hour late at 9 p.m. Catryna was in Catryna form, dancing, jumping and wiggling her bottom (I thought it would fall off). The parents for the lead singer of the opening band were sitting behind us and getting a huge thrill from watching her.

Well, Bo did not come on until 10 p.m. and Catryna had fizzled. She made it through and danced and rested until about 10:40 when she fell asleep in my arms. When the concert was over, however, she was revived when I whispered that we were going to meet him and me, along with some fans, were fanning her and talking to her to keep her awake while we waited for him. They let us go first.

Well, he was so sweet to her. He took the panda, said he was going to give it to his son and read her note. He signed a picture for her, took a picture with us and then was so sweet when Catryna wanted to give him a hug. Mommy wanted to give him a hug too, but Catryna took center stage. I settled for a hand shake. He was so sweet, taking special time and really talking to her for a few minutes.

We got home at 1 a.m. Can you believe it? She was so excited she stayed awake so she could tell Baba what happened and talked about it all day yesterday and when she woke this morning she said that she dreamt about Bo Bice singing. How sweet!
